Turkey's foreign trade deficit decreased by 1.43 times and hit $ 5.6 billion in October 2012 compared to the same month of 2011, the Turkish Statistics Institute said today.

Turkey's foreign trade deficit decreased by 1.43 times and hit $ 5.6 billion in October 2012 compared to the same month of 2011, the Turkish Statistics Institute said today.

Turkey's exports rose by 10.9 percent and hit $13.2 billion in October 2012 compared to the same month of 2011. The import to Turkey decreased by 5.5 percent to $18.8 billion during a year.

Imports from the EU countries to Turkey amounted to 40 percent of total import in October 2012 compared to 44.2 percent in October 2011. Turkey's exports to the EU countries during the period increased by 1 percent and hit $ 5.3 billion.

Turkey's largest export fell to Germany in October. Turkey's exports to Germany in October decreased by 8.5 times and hit $ 1.1 billion.

The largest import to Turkey fell to Russia - $ 2.2 billion or 2.1 percent less than in the same month of 2011, China - $ 1.7 billion and Germany - $ 1.6 billion.
