Turkey has been conducting quiet diplomacy to meet with former Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reported.

"For the first time, I declare that we are currently conducting quiet diplomacy (for a meeting with the Mursi)," - Davutoglu said.

According to the minister, before the military coup Turkey's intelligence chief met with Mohammed Morsi.

"Liberation of Hosni Mubarak until Mursi is in custody will change events," - Turkish FM said.

Beginning from August 14 the Egyptian army launched a crackdown on the ousted President Mohamed Morsi's supporters, who were carrying out demonstrations. The army was using military equipment and firearms during the dispersal. As a result, about 2,000 people were killed.
