Private cemeteries are planned to be created in accordance with a new bill from the Turkish Ministry of Urban Planning and Development, Turkish newspaper Zaman reported today.
The establishment of private cemeteries is connected with the high density in municipal cemeteries, as well as the steep cost of graves. The new bill also envisages the transfer of cemeteries outside the city.
The cost of one grave in a cemetery in Turkey's many large cities ranges from 10,000 to 50,000 Turkish lira, the newspaper said.
