An incident occurred during the municipal elections in Turkey. Some people were injured, the Turkish newspaper Zaman reported on March 30.

The scuffle occurred among the candidates at a polling station in the Sanliurfa province.

Three people, including a police officer were injured as a result of the incident.

Being relatives, the candidates who were holding the campaign fought in the school yard. They made each other stab wounds. One of them had heart injury, the other - stomach injury. A police officer was also stabbed with a knife.

Four people were arrested in connection with the incident. The policemen arrived at the polling station and started checking all voters.

Also, two families got into a conflict in the Birecik district, Sanliurfa province. As a result, six people were injured. The sides used batons.

The incident occurred in the Chiftlik settlement. Two candidates of the municipal elections argued. Their family members were also involved in the scuffle. Fire was opened during the incident. As a result, four people were injured. Two people were also injured during the incident.

The injured were hospitalized.

The municipal elections began in Turkey on March 30.

The voting began at 07:00 and will continue until 16:00 local time in the following districts: Adyyaman, Agra, Artvin, Bingol, Bitlis, Diyarbakir, Elazig, Erzincan, Erzurum, Gaziantep, Giresun, Gumushane, Hakkari, Kars, Malatya, Kahramanmaras, Mardin, Mus, Ordu, Rize, Siirt, Sivas, Trabzon, Tunceli, Sanlıurfa, Van, Bayburt, Batman, Sırnak, Ardahan, Igdır and Kilis.

The elections will be held from 08:00 to 17:00 local time in all other districts.

The number of registered voters in Turkey is 52,695,831 people. Some 26,704,757 people of them are women, 25,991,750 people - men. Some 194,310 ballot boxes will be installed throughout the country. Some 26 political parties participate in the municipal elections.
