Turkey reveals volume of hidden taxes while making transactions on real estate

The total volume of the hidden taxes while making transactions on real estate stood at nearly one million liras in Turkey as of the first eight months of 2014, the country's Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said in his interview with the Anadolu agency.

He underscored that this is a very large amount and the state will waste no effort to prevent such actions.

The total volume of non-registered transactions on the sale of real estate exceeded 15 billion Turkish liras during the reporting period, according to the finance minister.

The volume of sold real estate items stood at 85,101 in June 2014, or 20 percent less compared to the same period of 2013, according to Turkish Statistical Institute.

Around 17,116 real estate items were sold in Turkey's city of Istanbul during the mentioned month, which accounts for 20.1 percent of the total volume of the sold real estate in the country.

Ankara ranked second for the volume of real estate sales in Turkey: Some 9,426 real estate items were sold in this city, which accounts for 11.1 percent of the total volume of real estate sales throughout the country.

The official exchange rate on Sept.11 is 2.2022 TRY/USD.
