Fire occurred on the Ishiklar coal mine (Işıklar) in the city of Soma in the Turkish province of Manisa in western Turkey, the Sabah newspaper said Oct.27.

No injuries are reported, some 301 workers of mines were evacuated.

All works in the Ishiklar mine were suspended.

Some 301 people were killed and 486 people were injured following the mine explosion in the city of Soma in the Turkish province of Manisa on May 13, 2014.

Turkey wrote off all the loan debts of the workers killed in the mine explosion. The Turkish government granted additional funds to the families of those killed in the mine accident.

Over 3,000 people have been killed and over 100,000 have received various injuries since 1941 to the present day in the mining accidents in Turkey. Some 10.4 percent of all work accidents occur at mines in the country.

In the first four months of 2014, some 1,235 people have been killed as a result of the work-related accidents in Turkey, 103 of them females.

The previous worst mine accident in Turkey's history occurred in the province of Zonguldak in 1992, killing 263 workers.
