Over 150 athletes to represent Turkey in First European Games in Baku
Baku, Azerbaijan, March 30
Turkey will take part in the First European Games in Baku with 153 athletes (63 females and 90 males) in 20 sports, said the message posted on the official website of the country's National Olympic Committee on Mar.30.
During the first European Games, one athlete will represent Turkey in the competitions on track and field athletics, four athletes - shooting, 8 - basketball, 4 - rhythmic gymnastics, 13 - boxing, 3 - fencing, two - table tennis, one - sambo, 12 - swimming, 6 - cycling, 24- wrestling, 11- karate, 2- archery, 4 - beach volleyball, 3 - triathlon, 2 - judo, 10 - synchronized swimming, 13 - water polo, 24 - volleyball, 6 - canoeing.
Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
