By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:

In case if Turkey's airspace is repeatedly violated by Russia, the issue can be reviewed by NATO, Haberturk news channel quoted Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu as saying Oct. 5.

He also said Russia informed that the incident with military aircraft took place by mistake.

Davutoglu, meanwhile, further noted that Russia's actions in Syria are a big mistake.

"At a time when [Syrian President] Bashar Assad has weakened and his resignation being a matter of time, Russia is bombing the moderate opposition's positions in Syria," said Davutoglu.

He also expressed the hope that Russia would abandon its erroneous position.

Turkish Foreign Ministry said Oct. 5 that the planes of Russian air forces, involved in the military operation in Syria, violated Turkey's airspace on Oct. 3.

The aircraft of Turkish air forces carried out warning sorties following the violation of the country's airspace.

After this Russian planes left the Turkish airspace.

Following the incident, Russian ambassador to Turkey was summoned to the country's Foreign Ministry to clarify the situation.

Earlier, Russia's President Vladimir Putin appealed to the country's Federation Council to authorize using Russian armed forces abroad. The Federation Council granted the request.

Previously, the head of the Russian presidential administration, Sergei Ivanov told reporters that the decision concerns Syria and the matter rests solely in an operation of the air forces.

Russia earlier sent its warplanes to Syria after a request from Damascus.

Russian military space forces have also been reported to deliver strikes on positions of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" in Syria.
