Russia complicating Syrian crisis resolution, says Turkish defense minister

Russian military actions in Syria further complicate the resolution of crisis in that country, said Turkish Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz, TRT Haber news channel reported Feb. 16.
"Russia is expanding the opportunities of the "Islamic State" terrorist group by striking the opposition in Syria," he said.
He also called Russia's actions in Syria a war crime against that country's civilian population.
"Turkey will do the utmost to defend its security," Yilmaz said speaking about Turkish army's firing upon the positions of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and shelling of Turkey's territory.
Turkey resumed artillery strikes on positions of PYD and PKK on Feb. 16.
