Ten wind farms will be built in five provinces of Turkey in two years.

It is planned to hold a tender on August 3, 2017, in order to attract a contractor, says a message about Turkey’s Renewable Energy Resources Area Project (YEKA), published July 31.

Four German companies, one Chinese, one American and one Danish company have already submitted their applications for participation in the tender.

Under the tender terms, the construction work must be completed within 21 months.

Earlier, Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak said that Turkey plans to invest $1 billion in the development of renewable energy sources.

According to him, the construction of new power plants will increase Turkey’s energy security and reduce dependence on other countries.

The minister also believes that the new project on development of renewable energy sources will provide employment for about 3,750 people.

Wind farms will be located in five regions of Turkey, including the capital – Ankara.
