The police of Turkey’s Van province confiscated 141 kilograms of heroin during a special operation against drug dealers, Turkish media reported Oct. 2.

One Turkish citizen was detained as part of the operation.

During the investigation it was found out that the detained Turkish citizen had close ties with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist group.

As many as 176 kilograms of heroin were confiscated at in Turkey’s Corum province on Oct. 1.

Reportedly, the heroin was brought from Van province in the south-east of Turkey.

In January-February 2018, 3,722 kilograms of heroin were confiscated, the Turkish Interior Ministry said earlier.

During the reporting period, 16,802 kilograms of psychotropic substances and 202 kilograms of Bonzai drugs were confiscated in Turkey.

During the reporting period, 3,823 people, including foreigners, were detained within the fight against drug traffickers.

In total, 20,000 tons of heroin was confiscated in Turkey in 2017.
