Turkey is not going to remain silent in connection with the mysterious disappearance of Saudi reporter Jamal Khashoggi, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, the Turkish media reported Oct. 11.

The President of Turkey noted that the disappearance of Khashoggi is not an ordinary case.

"Khashoggi is a very well-known reporter and has the status of an international reporter," Erdogan said.

The head of state also said it is not realistic that at the time of the disappearance of Khashoggi, the surveillance cameras in the Embassy of Saudi Arabia were not operating.

Turkey is extremely interested in the investigation of the disappearance of Khashoggi, Erdogan said.

Earlier, it was reported that an investigation would be carried out at the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Turkey regarding the disappearance of Saudi reporter Jamal Khashoggi.

Earlier, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Turkey Walid Bin Abdul Karim El Khereiji was summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

"If the Embassy of Saudi Arabia claims that Khashoggi disappeared after leaving the embassy building, they must prove it," a message quoted President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying.

On Oct. 2, Khashoggi went to the consulate general of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul for some documents. His fiancee was not allowed into the building, and five hours later she was informed that he had already left. She later stated that she did not trust the information and did not know Khashoggi's whereabouts.
