Twenty one people were detained for organizing gambling games in Turkey’s Ankara and 13 other cities, Trend reports referring to the Turkish media on March 1.
Among the detainees are journalists, as well as a TV presenter, whose names have not yet been disclosed.
As part of the operation, 106 million Turkish liras were confiscated. A ban on a number of gambling games has been imposed in Turkey since 1996.
Earlier, the police of Turkey’s Adana province carried out a big operation in 11 districts of the city against the organizers and participants of illegal gambling games. More than 500 people were detained.
