Turkey is moving its military equipment to the border with Iraq in Turkey’s southeastern Hakkari Province, Trend reports referring to Turkish media.
It is noted that this measure is being taken as part of the fight against the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). According to the media reports, artillery units have also been moved to the province.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has lasted more than 25 years, claiming more than 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.
