Turkey’s foreign trade exceeds $34B in May 2019 – Ministry

Turkey’s foreign trade turnover in May 2019 amounted to $34.633 billion, the Turkish Ministry of Commerce told Trend on June 3.

During this period, Turkish exports increased by 0.5 percent compared to May 2018 and amounted to $16.334 billion, according to the ministry.

“In May 2019, imports to Turkey decreased by 17.81 percent compared to May 2018 and amounted to $18.299 billion,” the report says.

During the reporting period, Turkey imported mineral fuel worth $3.742 billion, equipment and machinery worth $1.849 billion, electrical goods worth $1.379 billion, and steel and cast iron worth $1.245 billion.

“The remaining share of imports, $10.084 billion, accounts for other types of products,” the ministry said.

It was noted that during the reporting period, Turkey exported vehicles for $2.529 billion, equipment and machinery for $1.577 billion. “The remaining $12.228 billion accounted for the share of exports of other types of goods,” the report said.

In May 2019, Turkey’s exports to Germany decreased by 5.76 percent compared to the same month of 2018 and amounted to $1.504 billion.

According to the ministry, Turkish imports from Russia in May 2019 decreased by 2.51 percent compared to May 2018, and amounted to $2.069 billion.
