Russia increases cargo transportation to Turkey

In September 2019, 130 Russian trucks transported cargo to Turkey, which is 30 trucks more compared to September 2018, Trend reports on Nov. 8 referring to Turkey’s International Freight Forwarders Association (UND).

In September 2019, 15 Russian trucks transported cargo through the Hamzabeyli border checkpoint, nine Russian trucks - through Ipsala checkpoint and 20 Russian trucks - through Kapikule checkpoint in Edirne province.

During this period, 81 Russian trucks transported cargo to Turkey through the Sarp checkpoint (on the border with Georgia), five Russian trucks - through the Port of Haydarpasa in Istanbul.

Some 934,404 Turkish trucks transported cargo abroad from January through September 2019, which is 5 percent more compared to the same period of 2018.

“The share of cargo transported from Turkey by Turkish trucks accounted for 77.6 percent of the total volume of cargo transshipment by vehicles from January through September 2019,” UND said.

Some 269,653 foreign trucks transported cargo across Turkey from January through September 2019, which is 3 percent more compared to the same period of 2018.

“The share of cargo transportation from Turkey by foreign trucks amounted to 22.4 percent from January through September 2019,” the UND said.

Some 300,673 Turkish trucks transported cargo from foreign countries from January through September 2019.
