Some 1.4 million people out of 2.1 million tourists who visited Turkey in November 2019 arrived by air, which is 67 percent of the total number of tourists, a source in the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry told Trend on Jan. 6.
In November 2019, 66,300 tourists arrived by sea, which is over 3 percent of the total number, the ministry said, and 651,797 tourists arrived in Turkey by vehicles and railway.
The ministry noted that in November 2019, 303,000 people arrived in the Turkish province of Antalya, while over 1 million tourists arrived in Istanbul by air.
“From January through November 2019, 33.1 million tourists arrived in Turkey by air, which makes 77.2 percent of their total number,” the ministry said.
Some 2.2 million tourists visited Turkey in November 2019, which is 11.4 percent more compared to November 2018.
From January through November 2019, over 42.9 million tourists visited Turkey, which is 14.3 percent more compared to the same period of 2018.
During the reporting period, over 14.4 million people visited Antalya, while over 13.8 million tourists visited Istanbul.
The remaining 14.7 million tourists arrived in other cities of the country.
