Cargo transshipment volume from China via Turkish ports in 1Q2020 revealed

Cargo transshipment from China via Turkish ports amounted to 1.32 million tons from January through March 2020, Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on April 17.

During the reporting period, the cargo transshipment by ships flying the flags of other countries stood at slightly over 1.3 million tons.

According to the ministry, in the first quarter of 2020, ships flying the Chinese flag did not conduct cargo transshipment via Turkish ports.

“From January through March 2020, the volume of cargo transshipped by ships flying the Turkish flag via Turkey’s ports amounted to 20,108 tons,” the ministry said

As reported, 504,571 tons of cargo from China were transited through Turkish ports.

During 1Q2020, the volume of cargo transported by ships via Turkish ports amounted to over 94.6 million tons.

According to the ministry, the volume of cargo handled by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 7.4 million tons from January through March 2020.

The volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries in the first quarter of this year amounted to 3.9 million tons, while the cargo transshipment by ships flying the flags of other countries stood at 83.1 million tons.

Over the reporting period, 18.4 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

The volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports amounted to 32.1 million tons in March 2020. The volume of cargo handled by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to over 2.8 million tons.

In March 2020, the volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 1.3 million tons, while cargo transshipment by ships under the flags of other countries stood at 27.9 million tons.

According to the ministry, 5.9 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey in March 2020.
