The construction of the Halkali-Kapikule railway with a length of 180 kilometers will be completed in Turkey in 2025, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on April 27.

“The railway will pass through three provinces, namely, Balikesir, Bilecik, Bursa,” the ministry said. "The railway construction is worth 3.3 billion Turkish liras ($473 million)."

The construction of the railway was launched in 2000 and 2.5 billion Turkish liras ($358 million) was spent on it in 2019.

Some 400 million Turkish liras ($57 million) will be allocated to continue the construction in 2020. The railway is being constructed at the state expense.

The ministry previously said that 25.2 billion liras ($3.7 billion) will be invested in transport and infrastructure projects in Turkey in 2020.

According to the ministry, this year, 2,994 projects will be implemented in Turkey, 455 of which are in the field of transport and infrastructure. In total, 77.1 billion liras ($11.3 billion) were allocated for all projects.

The ministry previously said that the implementation of projects to create 12 logistics centers is underway. Eight such centers are under development and tenders, and the construction of four centers is underway.

Foreign contractors may take part in the construction.

The construction projects of 21 logistics centers are planned to be implemented as part of Turkey’s 2023 Vision Project. Nine logistics centers have already been commissioned.
