Turkey discloses volume of cargo transportation via Black Sea port of Rize

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 11

Some 73,277 tons of cargo were shipped through the Turkish Rize port in Rize province from January through April 2020, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on June 11.

During the reporting period, 6,534 tons of cargo were handled via the Rize port by ships flying the Turkish flag, while ships flying the flags of other countries shipped 266,743 million tons of cargo.

“No cargo was transited via the mentioned port during the reporting period,” the ministry said.

In the first four months of 2020, the volume of cargo shipment through the Turkish ports exceeded 123.5 million tons.

Meanwhile, the volume of cargo handled by ships flying the Turkish flag surpassed 9.7 million tons.

The volume of cargo transportation via the Turkish ports by ships flying their countries’ flags amounted to 4.9 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries amounted to 108.8 million tons.

Over the reporting period, over 24.9 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports.

The volume of cargo transportation through the Turkish ports amounted to more than 28.8 million tons in April 2020.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the Turkish ports by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 2.2 million tons in April 2020.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the Turkish ports by ships flying their countries' flags amounted to 979,880 tons, while cargo transshipment by ships flying the flags of other countries amounted to 25.6 million tons in April 2020.

The ministry said that more than 6.5 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in April 2020.
