Uzbekistan's demand for Turkish carpets down

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 29

Export of carpets from Turkey to Uzbekistan dropped by 44.6 percent in the first five months of 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, having made up $639,000, Turkish Trade Ministry told Trend on June 29.

In May 2020, Turkey’s export of carpets to Uzbekistan fell by 75.6 percent compared to May last year and amounted to $34,000.

Export of carpets from Turkey to world markets dropped by 18.3 percent from January through May 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, having stood at $851.6 million.

Turkey’s export of carpets to world markets for the reporting period amounted to 1.4 percent of the country’s total export for the same period of this year.

“In May 2020, Turkey’s export of carpets to world markets amounted to slightly over $117.3 million, which is 50.2 percent less compared to May 2019,” the ministry said.

Turkey’s export of carpets to world markets in May this year amounted to 1.2 percent of the country’s total export.

During the last twelve months (from May 2019 through May 2020), Turkey exported carpets worth over $2.3 billion.
