Turkish export of grain, legumes to int'l markets in 1H2020 rises

Turkey’s export of grains and legumes to international markets from January through June 2020 increased by 7.1 percent compared to the same period of 2019, having made up $3.4 billion, Turkey’s Ministry of Trade told Trend on July 6.

According to the ministry, export of these products accounted for 4.6 percent of the country’s total export for the reporting period.

In June this year, Turkey exported grains and legumes worth $572.3 million to world markets, which is 66 percent more compared to the same month of 2019 (4.2 percent of the country's total export), the ministry said.

During the last 12 months (from June 2019 through June 2020), Turkey exported the grain and legumes in the amount of nearly $7 billion.

In May 2020, Turkey exported grains and legumes worth $500.2 million to the world markets, which is 15.3 percent less compared to the same month of 2019 (5 percent of the country's total export).

From May 2019 through May this year, Turkey exported the grain and legumes in the amount of nearly $6.8 billion.
