Turkey discloses volume of cargo transshipment from Bulgaria via its ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 9

The volume of cargo transshipment from Bulgaria via Turkish ports from January through May 2020 exceeded 1.7 million tons, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on July 9.

In the reporting period, 744,400 tons of cargo from Bulgaria were handled via Turkish ports by the ships flying the Turkish flag, and 986,817 tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Meanwhile, no cargo was handled through Turkish ports by ships flying the Bulgarian flag, and 512,423 tons of cargo from Bulgaria were transited via the ports of Turkey.

During the reporting period, 151.4 million tons were handled through Turkish ports.

The volume of cargo transshipment via Turkish ports by the ships flying the Turkish flag made up 11.9 million tons, by ships flying the flags of their countries - to over 5.8 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries stood at nearly 133.6 million tons from January through May 2020.

Meanwhile, 30.7 million tons of cargo were transited through Turkish ports, the ministry said.

In May this year, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey made up almost 28 million tons.

In the reporting month, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag made up 2.3 million tons, by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 940,716 tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries stood at 24.7 million tons.

According to the ministry, 5.7 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey in May 2020.
