Volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish port of Tekirdag announced

Transshipment of goods in the Turkish port of Tekirdag of Tekirdag province stood at 7.6 million tons from January through May 2020, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on July 9.

The ministry said that during the reporting period, 162,071 tons were handled by ships flying the flag of Turkey in the port of Tekirdag, while 7.4 million tons of cargo were handled by ships flying the flags of other countries.

"Some 3.8 million tons were transited through the Tekirdag port from January through May 2020," the ministry said.

During the reporting period, 151.4 million tons were handled through Turkish ports.

The volume of cargo transshipment via Turkish ports by the ships flying the Turkish flag made up 11.9 million tons, by ships flying the flags of their countries - to over 5.8 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries stood at nearly 133.6 million tons from January through May 2020.

Meanwhile, 30.7 million tons of cargo were transited through Turkish ports, the ministry said.

In May 2020, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey made up almost 28 million tons.

In the reporting month, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag made up 2.3 million tons, by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 940,716 tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries stood at 24.7 million tons.

According to the ministry, 5.7 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey in May 2020.
