Turkey reveals eight-month data on cargo runs through its port of Samsun

The volume of cargo transshipment through Turkey’s Samsun port amounted to 6.7 million tons from January through August 2020, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, 425,432 tons of cargo were handled through the Samsun port by ships flying the Turkish flag, and 6.3 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Meanwhile, no cargo transit was carried out through the port of Samsun, the ministry said.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey exceeded 239.3 million tons from January through August 2020.

Over the reporting period, ships flying the Turkish flag handled over 18.9 million tons of goods.

In the first eight months of this year, the volume of cargo movement via Turkish ports by ships flying their countries' flags made up 9 million tons, while ships flying the flags of other countries – 211.3 million tons, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, more than 48.2 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

As reported, in August 2020, the volume of cargo shipment through the Turkish ports amounted to 29.4 million tons. In this month, ships flying the Turkish flag transshipped over 2 million tons of cargo.

Cargo transshipment via the ports of Turkey by ships flying their countries’ flags amounted to 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 26.4 million tons.

Over 6.3 million tons of goods were transported in transit through the Turkish ports in August 2020.
