As many as 46,336 tons of cargo were transported through Turkey’s Ankara Esenboga Airport from January through October 2020, which is 55 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, the country's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Nov.27.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the country’s domestic flights transported 29,046 tons of cargo, showing a 58-percent drop over the year.

At the same time, 17,290 tons of cargo were transported through Ankara Esenboga Airport by international flights, having decreased by 48 percent year-on-year, the ministry said.

The Ankara Esenboga Airport served over 4.4 million passengers during the past ten months of this year, which is 62 percent less than in the same period of last year.

More than 3.7 million passengers were served on domestic flights over this period, while a year earlier this indicator was 62 percent less.

From January through October 2020, 669,653 passengers were served on international flights, which is 66 percent less compared to the same months of last year.

Meanwhile, 42,570 flights were carried out through Esenboga Airport, which is 50 percent less than in the same period in 2019.

During this period, 34,832 flights were carried out on domestic flights, which is 48 percent less than in the same period in 2019.

International flights via Ankara Esenboga Airport slumped by 56 percent over the year, amounting to 7,738 flights.

From January through October 2020, air traffic in Turkey decreased by 45.9 percent and amounted to 722,084 flights. Meanwhile, over 70.5 million passengers were served at all Turkish airports.

In the reporting period, more than 1.9 million tons of cargo were transported through all airports in the country.
