Demand for Turkish steel down in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 23

The export of steel from Turkey to Georgia decreased by 13.2 percent in January 2021 compared to the same month of 2020, reaching $7.6 million, the Turkish Trade Ministry told Trend on Feb. 23.

According to the ministry, in January 2021, Turkey’s steel export to the world markets dropped by seven percent, compared to Jan. 2020, having stood at $1.05 billion.

At the same time, Turkey’s steel export accounted for 7.8 percent of the country's total export during the reporting period.

During the past 12 months (from January 2020 to January 2021) Turkey exported steel worth over $12.5 billion.
