Turkey discloses volume of cargo transshipped through Aliaga port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 9

Some 17.08 million tons of cargo were transshipped through the Turkish port of Aliaga in Izmir province from January through March 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

The ships sailing under the flag of Turkey transshipped 619,370 tons while 16.5 million tons of cargo by ships sailing under the flags of other countries.

"Some 4.3 million tons were transited through the Aliaga port from January through March 2021," the ministry said.

The Turkish ports handled 94.6 million tons of cargo from January through March 2021.

Some 7.4 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag while 87.2 million tons under the flags of other countries.

Moreover, some 18.4 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports during the reporting period.

The Turkish ports as a whole handled 32.1 million tons of cargo in March 2021.

Some 2.9 million tons of cargo were transported by ships sailing under the Turkish flag while 29.3 million tons by ships sailing under the flags of other countries in March.

According to the ministry, 5.9 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in March.
