The volume of cargo transported via Ankara Esenboga Airport from January through May 2021 declined, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.
According to the ministry, in the reporting period, 19,228 tons of cargo had been transported via Ankara Esenboga Airport from January through May 2021, which is by 34 percent less compared to the same period of last year.
Meanwhile, 15,391 tons of cargo were transported via domestic flights (decrease of 1 percent on annual basis) while 3,837 tons of cargo via international flights (decrease of 66 percent).
Passenger traffic at Esenboga Airport made up over 1.7 million people, which is by 31 percent less than from January through May 2020.
At the same time, the passenger traffic via domestic flights was over 1.5 million people (decrease of 27 percent) while via international flights – 190,284 people (decrease of 65 percent).
According to the ministry, 18,801 flights were made from the airport, which is by 11 percent less over the year.
Besides, the number of domestic flights was 16,075 (decrease of 5 percent) while international flights - 2,726 (decrease of 34 percent).
The passenger traffic at all airports in Turkey reached 29.4 million people while the volume of cargo transportation – over 1 million tons during the reporting period.
