Cargo turnover at Turkish Adnan Menderes airport grows

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 2

The cargo turnover at Turkish Istanbul Adnan Menderes International Airport reached 15,220 tons from January through June 2021, which is by 42 percent more than in the same period of 2020, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on August 2.

The cargo turnover on domestic flights via the airport reached 12,226 tons from January through June 2021 (increase of 46 percent compared to the period from January through June 2020) while on international flights was 2,994 tons (increase of 25 percent).

Passenger traffic at the airport reached 1.2 million people, which is by three percent more than during the period from January through June 2020. Some 1.1 million passengers were served on domestic flights (11-percent increase), while 64,826 passengers - on international flights (53-percent decrease).

The ministry also noted that the number of flights was 13,750 from January through June 2021, which is by 24 percent more than in the same period of last year.

Meanwhile, 12,983 domestic flights (increase by 33 percent) and 767 international flights (decrease by 41 percent) were made.

Some 40.2 million passengers and 1.3 million tons of cargo were transported through all Turkish airports from January through June 2021, the ministry said.
