Turkey records growth of leather goods exports to Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 10

The export of leather products from Turkey to Iran dropped by 30.9 percent from January through August 2021, compared to the same period of 2020, amounting to $1.1 million, Trend reports citing the Turkish Ministry of Trade.

In August of this year, the export of leather goods from Turkey to Iran surged 4.9 times compared to the same month of 2020 - to $173,000, the ministry stressed.

From January through August 2021, Turkey in total increased the export of leather products by 27.8 percent compared to the same period of last year - to $1 billion.

In August 2021, Turkey exported leather goods worth $157 million, which is 60.5 percent more compared to the same period of 2020.

Over the last 12 months (from August 2020 to August 2021), Turkish exports of leather products amounted to $1.5 billion.
