Turkey discloses data on cargo handling from Germany via local port for 9M2021

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 27

Over 1.91 million tons of cargo were shipped from Germany via the Turkish ports from January through September 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

At the same time, 19,801 tons of cargo from Germany were delivered to the Turkish ports by ships flying the Turkish flag, and 1.81 million tons - by ships flying the other countries’ flags.

During the reporting period, ships flying the German flag delivered 87,119 tons of cargo to Turkish ports.

In the first 9 months of this year, Turkish ports handled 97,677 tons of transit cargo from Germany.

The ports of Turkey handled 286.3 million tons of cargo in total since the beginning of 2021.

In particular, during the reporting period, cargo transportation by ships under the flag of Turkey amounted to 22.2 million tons.

Also, cargo transportation through the ports of Turkey by ships under the flags of other countries amounted to 263.8 million tons.

In addition, during the specified period, Turkish ports handled over 57 million tons of transit cargo.

In September 2021, the ports of Turkey in total handled 32.8 million tons of cargo.

It is noted that cargo transportation through the ports by ships under the Turkish flag in September 2021 amounted to 2.4 million tons, while by ships under the flags of other countries – 30.5 million tons.

According to the ministry, Turkish ports handled 6.9 million tons of transit cargo in September 2021.
