The volume of cargo transshipment via the Turkish port of Gemlik in the first nine months of 2021 topped 9.97 million tons, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.
According to the ministry, ships flying the Turkish flag through the Gemlik port transported 780,835 tons of cargo, and ships flying the flags of other countries – over 9.1 million tons.
From January through September this year, the port transited 48,161 tons of cargo, said the ministry.
The total volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey exceeded 286.3 million tons from January through September 2020 over the reporting period, ships flying the Turkish flag handled over 22.2 million tons of goods.
In the first nine months of this year, the volume of cargo movement via Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of other countries amounted to 263.8 million tons, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, more than 57 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.
In September 2020, the total volume of cargo shipment through the Turkish ports amounted to 32.9 million tons. In this month, ships flying the Turkish flag transshipped over 2.4 million tons of cargo, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 30.5 million tons.
Meanwhile, over 6.8 million tons of goods were transported in transit through the Turkish ports.
