Turkey reveals petrochemical shipments via local ports in 2021

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 11

Over 66.2 million tons of petrochemicals were transshipped via the Turkish ports in 2021, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

According to the ministry, last year, ships flying the Turkish flag transported three million tons of petrochemicals through the ports, and ships flying the flags of other countries – over 63.2 million tons.

Meanwhile, 48.1 million tons of petrochemicals were transited via the Turkish ports, the ministry added.

Totally, Turkey's ports handled more than 386.3 million tons of cargo last year.

Meanwhile, freight traffic by vessels under the Turkish flag through domestic ports exceeded 29.9 million tons.

Cargo transportation via the ports of Turkey by ships under the flags of other countries last year totaled 356.3 million tons.

Besides, Turkish ports transited over 78 million tons of cargo.

In December 2021, Turkish ports handled more than 35.4 million tons of cargo.

Meanwhile, transshipment of goods through ports under the Turkish flag reached 2.5 million tons, and under the flags of other countries – 32.8 million tons. In the same month, Turkish ports handled 7.2 million tons of transit cargo.
