BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 22. Turkish ports handled 13.89 million tons of cargo from Spain in January 2023, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.
According to the ministry, ships flying the Turkish flag delivered 1.8 million tons of cargo, while ships under the flags of other countries – 11.8 million tons to local ports.
In January this year, 250,210 tons of cargo were delivered by Spain-flagged ships to Turkish ports.
Meanwhile, 2.8 million tons of transit freight were delivered from Spain to Turkish ports in the reporting month.
Totally, the Turkish ports handled 31.9 million tons of freight in January 2023.
In the reporting month, ships flying the flag of Türkiye transshipped 1.9 million tons of cargo, whereas ships under the flags of other countries - 30.08 million tons.
Besides, 6.49 million tons of transit freight were handled by the Turkish ports.
The ports of Türkiye handled 32.03 million tons of freight in December 2022. Ships flying the flag of Türkiye transshipped 2.5 million tons, whereas ships under the flags of other countries - 29.4 million tons.
In December 2022, 7.26 million tons of transit cargo were delivered to the ports of Türkiye.
A total of 394.09 million tons of freight were transferred by Turkish ports in 2022.
Last year, cargo traffic by ships under the flag of Turkiye amounted to 28.4 million tons, whilst by ships under the flags of other countries – 365.6 million tons.
