BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. As many as 25,262 apartments were mortgaged in Türkiye in March 2023, making up 254 percent of total sales, the Turkish General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.
"From January through March this year, 58,822 apartments were mortgaged, making up 20.8 percent of total sales," the general directorate said.
In March 2023, 105,476 apartments were purchased in Türkiye, which is 21.4 percent less than in the same month of the preceding year.
Besides, 283,215 apartments from January through March 2023 were purchased in the country. This was 11.5 percent less than in the same period in 2022.
Moreover, about 3,415 apartments, in March of this year, were sold to foreign citizens in Türkiye, which is 38.7 percent less than in the same month of last year.
During the reporting month, foreigners purchased most properties in Türkiye's Antalya.
So, in the above city, the number of apartments sold to foreigners amounted to 1,324. In Istanbul, this figure reached 1,090 apartments, while in Mersin this number accounted for 240 apartments.
Most of the foreign citizens who bought apartments in Türkiye last month were citizens of Russia (1,175 people), Iran (472 people), Iraq (165 people) and Ukraine (160 people).
