BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 9. A total of 3,8 million tons of cargo was transported from Libya to Turkish ports from January through December 2023, Trend reports, referring to the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
Turkish-flagged vessels delivered 485,926 tons of cargo to Libyan ports, while vessels under the flags of other countries amounted to 3.1 million tons.
During this period, Libya-flagged vessels delivered 7,380 tons of cargo to Turkish ports.
From January through December 2023, a total of 207,751 tons of transit cargo was transported to Turkish ports from Libya.
During the reported period, the ports of Türkiye received 391.7 million tons of cargo.
The cargo traffic of Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 29.3 million tons from January through December 2023. Vessels under the flags of other countries carried 362.4 million tons of cargo to the ports of Türkiye.
According to the ministry, from January through December 2023, 66.7 million tons of transit cargo was transported from the Turkish ports.
In December 2023, the ports of Türkiye accepted 36.4 million tons of cargo.
During this period, the reception of cargo to domestic ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.7 million tons.
"Cargo shipments of vessels under the flags of other countries to Turkish ports amounted to 33.6 million tons," the ministry said in a statement.
In addition, a total of 5.2 million tons of transit cargo was transported from the ports of Türkiye in December 2023
During the reporting period, the Turkish ports received 60,195 vessels.
According to the information, the number of vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by Turkish ports during this time amounted to 40,918, and the number of vessels under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 19,277.
In December last year, the ports of Türkiye accepted 4,697 ships (3,190 under the flags of other countries, 1,507 under the flag of Türkiye).
