BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23. The process of obtaining Turkish citizenship will be tightened, the head of the Turkish population and citizenship body Ibrahim Tasyapan told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, when a person applies for Turkish citizenship, a request should be sent to the police and the National Intelligence Organization (MIT).
The process will begin when the granting of citizenship to this person does not harm national security or public order.
Tasyapan also said that before the citizenship's approval by the President of Türkiye, a request is sent to Interpol again, as these processes take about five-six months.
"After conducting a re-check by sending a request to Interpol, the application will be approved by the president," he added.
