Top Turkish officials condemn ferocious attack in Ankara

. ( Cihan ) - Shortly after the explosion occurred in Ankara's Ulus district top officials arrived at the scene and commented on the current situation.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the attack was another ferocious act and an indicator that the nation should unite against terrorism.

Chief of Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit said that it was crucial to investigate the powers and organization behind the act and those financially supporting these organizations. Although Buyukanit did not comment further it was clear that he indicated that the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) was responsible for the blast.

Another leader at the scene was Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal who reiterated that the nation should unite and condemned the attack against an innocent town and its people.

Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer issued a statement condemning the attack and expressed his sorrow for the dead and the injured people.

Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc also condemned the attack and said that instead of a political fight regarding the indirect responsibilities for the explosion, all should join together and show courage against terror.
