An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale jolted 8km ENE of Miyako, Japan at 22:42:04 GMT on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, Xinhua reported.

An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale jolted 8km ENE of Miyako, Japan at 22:42:04 GMT on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, Xinhua reported.

The epicenter, with a depth of 44.94 km, was initially determined to be at 39.6748 degrees north latitude and 142.0342 degrees east longitude.
