Azerbaijan, Baku, June 1 / Trend I. Isabalaeva /

Cases of human rights violations in the activities of those who teach democracy to Azerbaijan are causing a major concern in the country, a member of the Milli Mejlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan Aydin Mirzazade told Trend, commenting on the violence used in Germany and Turkey against peaceful demonstrators.

According to the deputy, the periodic use of violence against participants of mass actions held in the countries with democratic values causes a big surprise in Azerbaijan.

"The violence perpetrated against the people, dispersal of the protests and putting the unfolding events under serious control of the police is particularly evident in Germany, which is the leading European country. Despite the fact that Germany regularly addresses the world community and certain independent countries with the calls for democracy, the violation of conventional human rights there is perceived very calmly and the state is trying to justify it," the deputy said.

Ruthless crackdown of protests of the masses over the construction of the shopping center in Taksim Square in Istanbul is regarded as a violation of human rights, Mirzazada said.

According to the deputy, Turkey is a brotherly, friendly country for Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani public takes everything happening there very closely.

Azerbaijani society regrets that Turkey has failed to find any method of communicating with the protesters other than the "language of the police", the deputy said.

Recalling that the issue is a serious topic for discussion by the international community, Mirzazada stressed that the recurring human rights violations in the activities of those who teach the lessons of democracy to Azerbaijan cause serious disturbance in the country.

"We believe that the standards should be equal for all countries and against all cases. It is unacceptable that the incidents in Azerbaijan become the object of their condemnation, while they themselves use force in their country in a more severe form. It would be very much desired for such cases of abuse not to take place specifically in Turkey," Mirzazada said.

The protests against the tree felling in the Gezi park in the center of Istanbul have been held for several days. The central Taksim Square is being reconstructed there. The police are using tear gas to disperse the demonstrators. It became known on May 31 evening that the court suspended the reconstruction of ancient military barracks on the square. Therefore, the trees must be cut down in the Gezi park.

On May 31, the activists of the Blockupy anti-capitalist movement tried to disrupt the work of the European Central Bank, located in the business district of Frankfurt am Main. Blockupy is acting, in particular, against the policy of economy in Europe, the banking speculations with food and housing rental rate increase. Policemen detained buses with protesters, as well as journalists. All central streets of the city were cordoned off by police. The reinforced police groups with dogs and water cannons were introduced.
