Azerbaijan's first lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva met Bulgaria's ambassador to Azerbaijan Maya Hristova on March 9.

Welcoming the Ambassador Hristova to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva expressed gratitude for the current level of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria, and highlighted the projects implemented within this cooperation.

Mehriban Aliyeva noted that there are historically close relations between the two countries and peoples, and underscored the high level of relations between the two peoples and states.

Azerbaijan's first lady particularly mentioned Maya Hristova's contribution to this cooperation and brought to attention that work is being carried out to restore the Trapezitsa Architectural Museum Reserve in the Bulgarian city of Veliko Tyrnovo by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation with a support from the diplomatic mission's head.

Mehriban Aliyeva also noted that an agreement was signed in May this year in Sophia on conservation and restoration of the Trapezitsa Architectural Museum Reserve, construction and repair of the engineering infrastructure.

At the moment, the restoration work is nearing the completion.

Ambassador Maya Hristova, thanking for the project being implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Bulgaria, also emphasized the high level of relations between the two countries.
