Azerbaijan, Baku, March 29 /Trend/
The IDEA campaign (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) in conjunction with Earth Hour Azerbaijan will hold an Earth Hour action.
It is known that the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere due to the development of the economy and scientific technology in a globalising world is increasing, IDEA told Trend.
There is a considerable global problem as the climate changes due to the processes which in turn contributes to a number of other environmental problemsю
Earth Hour, an annual international campaign conducted by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) since 2009 aims to ensure that attention is given to climate change and environmental protection.
Each year on the last Saturday of March, millions of people participate in this event and symbolically turn off lights and other non-vital electrical devices for one hour in order to stimulate interest in the issue of climate change. Lighting of buildings that are symbols of the cities taking part are also turned off in Earth Hour.
As one of the main directions of IDEA campaign, launched by the vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, is the problem associated with climate change. The campaign has always supported both local and foreign action held in the name of fighting it.
In this regard, the campaign, in cooperation with 'Earth Hour, Azerbaijan' will hold this year's Earth Hour campaign not only in Baku's Maiden Tower, but also in Ganja, Lankaran, Lagidzhe and other places where large amounts of electricity are consumed.
