Tehran, Iran, January 31

By Mehdi Sepahvand -- Trend:

South Korea, Germany, and the UK have made proposals for developing new cities in Iran, the country's Deputy Minister of Transport and Urban Development Mohsen Nariman said.

He explained that the proposals have been made after Iran was freed from sanctions under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Fars news agency reported January 31.

Nariman added the ministry has been facing a lot of foreign companies seeking to work with Iran since January 16 when the JCPOA came into force.

The official explained that while some proposals sufficed to taking a partial project in newly developing cities, others concerned the whole project of creating a new city.

The JCPOA ended several years of harsh economic sanctions against Iran. Under the sanctions, Iran had limited or no access to foreign investment, technology, etc., resulting in underdevelopment in many spheres, not least urban development.
