Tehran, Iran, June 5
By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:
OPEC members agreed to keep oil production ceiling unchanged at 30 million barrels per day during a meeting in Vienna, Shana reported June 5.
The decision was made by members at the end of the organization's 167th meeting.
The oil ministers of the member countries at the end of the meeting were optimistic about the oil market in the second half of 2015.
Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh had on June 3 confirmed that he had sent a letter to the OPEC.
The letter included demand for OPEC members to consider Iran trying to boost its oil output to the time before it was restricted under international sanctions.
Iran had earlier said it was going to negotiate OPEC members into reducing their output since they had used Iran's relative absence from the OPEC basket under international sanctions.
A monthly report by OPEC said the organization's output was 30,843,000 barrels per day in April.
This is while according to OPEC's own evaluation, the demand for the organization's oil is 29,300,000 barrels per day for 2015.
In other words, the OPEC members have produced 1.5 million barrels per day more than the global demand.
