92 oil and gas wells drilled in Iran over 6 months

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Ninety-two oil and gas wells were drilled in Iran over the first half of the current Iranian fiscal year, which began on March 21.

Mehran Makvandi, deputy managing director of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC), said that the wells were drilled using 73 rigs at onshore and offshore fields, Iran's Shana news agency reported on September 26.

During the six-month period, 160,663 meters of wells were drilled, he said, adding that the number of drilled wells increased by 13 compared to the same period last year.

NIDC drilled 45 workover, 41 developmental, 4 appraisal, and 2 exploratory wells, respectively.

Currently, NIDC owns 74 light, heavy and ultra-heavy onshore and offshore drilling rigs which are operational under the supervision of National Iranian South Oil Company, Iranian Offshore Oil Company, Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, and Pars Oil and Gas Company.
