Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 8

By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend: Documents, certified with an electronic digital signature (e-signature) of Azerbaijan, are now recognized by all countries of the world, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Elmir Velizade told journalists on November 8.

According to Velizade, the e-signature, used in Azerbaijan, fully complies with international standards.

"The issue of the e-signature's recognition by individual countries may be considered on certain aspects, which is also stated in Azerbaijan's legislation concerning this field. Today many European countries recognize electronic signatures among themselves," the deputy minister said.

Velizade said Azerbaijan's e-signature fully meets international standards and is now recognized by all countries.

"Thus, any citizen can send a document certified with an e-signature to any country and this document will be recognized there," the deputy minister added.

In October 2013, the total number of e-signatures issued by the National Certification Authority in Azerbaijan increased by 2.9 per cent, reaching 16,415 on November 1.

Since the beginning of the year the number of the e-signature owners in Azerbaijan increased more than sevenfold.

Some 12,156 issued e-signatures accounted for government agencies, and some 657 e-signatures were issued to legal entities, while 3,602 were issued to citizens.
