Tourism Association: There are no tourists from Azerbaijan in Egypt

Currently, there are no leisure travellers from Azerbaijan in Egypt, the head of the Association of Tourism of Azerbaijan Nahid Bagirov told Trend on Sunday.

"The Association has conducted a survey among tourism companies, it was found that there are no tourists from Azerbaijan in Egypt", Bagirov said.

As many as 70 Azerbaijani citizens were residing and studying in Egypt.

A special airliner is being sent to Cairo at Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's decree to evacuate the Azerbaijani citizens who are currently in Egypt, as well as the dead body, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesman Elkhan Polukhov told Trend.

An airliner of the Azerbaijani state airlines flew from Baku to Cairo to evacuate Azerbaijani citizens from Cairo at 13:55 (local time) on Sunday, Azerbaijani airlines told Trend.

Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry appeals to citizens, who are currently in Egypt, immediately contact the Azerbaijani embassy`s "hotline" in Cairo via the following numbers:00201 69 14 2848 and 00201 08 15 8628.

Popular protests continued in all major cities of Egypt despite the statement voiced by President Hosni Mubarak. The Egyptian leader said that he supports the free will of the people and the right to demonstrate. However, he noted that in some cases the demonstrators passed the legal boundaries.
The manifestations with the requirements of conducting economic and political reforms and the resignation of 82-year old President Hosni Mubarak, ruling the country for 30 years, were launched in Egypt on January 25. On Friday, the mass protests continued in Cairo and other Egyptian cities. Roughly 150 people died, more than 2000 injured.
