Glassware plant modernized in Uzbekistan

Mehnat Agrofirm LLC, the largest producer of wine-making products in Uzbekistan, modernized its Asl Oyna glassware production plant in April, the LLC's management representative told Trend.

"The second branch for production of colorless glassware with the capacity of 120 million units per year has been commissioned at Asl Oyna," the LLC representative said.

A glass furnace with the design capacity of 120 tonnes of liquid glass per day, has been commissioned and associated equipment has been installed under the project.

The "turnkey" contract for supply of equipment was signed with Italia's Stara Glass and Bottero companies.

The new branch will produce bottles on NNPB (narrow neck press and blow) technology, which allows the reduction of the bottle's weight averagely by 15-20 percent.

Asl Oyna LLC (Tashkent) is the largest glassware producer with the design capacity of 150 tonnes of liquid glass per day and 126 million units of bottles per year.

The plant's construction was completed in 2009. Mehnat Agrofirm LLC owns some 80 percent of the plant's share.

Mehnat Agrofirm LLC accounts for 40 percent of the country's wine-making products market. The company also produces beer, mineral water and juices.

Besides Asl Oyna, another glassware plant, Quartz JSC (Kuvasay city, Fergana region) operates in the country. The design capacity of this plant is 120 tonnes of liquid glass per day and 124.7 million units of bottles per year.
