Local company to build Mljet hydroelectric power plant in Georgia

Georgian company Aragvi Energy has been granted the right to build a Mljet HPP at the White Aragvi river in the region of Mtskheta-Tianeti, Eastern Georgia, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources told Trend on Thursday.

According to the information, this company was the only one who made an application for the construction of hydropower stations in as part of the Renewable Energy framework.
The installed Mljet HPP power station will be 1.97 MW with an annual electricity generation of 15 million kilowatt hours. The company will invest $3.87 million in the construction which will be completed by the end of 2014.

A survey of interest with regard to the construction of the proposed hydropower plant was announced in February and the deadline for applications expired on March 20.
